"Style, Shoot, Success!" with Lindsay Adler

"Style, Shoot, Success!" with Lindsay Adler

This past Thursday, June 1st, we had an amazing event on our rooftop with Lindsay Adler.  She discussed how developing your personal style can make or break you as a photographer, and allow you to create work that stands out from the others.  To illustrate this concept, Lindsay created two model set ups with completely different styling, wardrobes, lighting, and composition.  She shot them with different lenses to show focal length and compression can create the desired composition.  Lindsay's event was a reminder that the photographer is always in control, and that stylistic choices are equally, if not more, important than the technical aspect of photography.

Set #1 - Red Avant Garde

Model Jennifer Bianchi was dressed in a structural, all red dress and fanned headpiece.  The idea was to have contrast between the beautiful red dress and bright blue sky.

Equipment used:
- Canon 5D Mark IV or Canon EOS 5Ds
- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II Lens
- Profoto D2 1000 TTL Pro Air Monolight (x2)
- Profoto D1 500 Pro Air Monolight
- Profoto Soft Light Reflector - White
- Profoto Soft Light Grid
- Profoto Deep White Large Umbrella

Set #2 - Dark and Edgy

Model Lera Kvasouka wore all an black, gothic inspired gown with an intricate headpiece.  The idea was to have a dark, dramatic, aggressive look and composition.

Equipment used:
- Canon 5D Mark IV or Canon EOS 5Ds
- Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II Lens
- Profoto D2 1000 TTL Pro Air Monolight (x2)
- Profoto D1 500 Pro Air Monolight
- Profoto Soft Light Reflector - White
- Profoto Soft Light Diffuser
- Profoto Soft Light Grid
- Profoto Magnum 50 Degree Reflector

All images were shot by Lindsay Adler during the event.  Thank you to Canon for sponsoring this event.  Also, thank you to everyone who attended and participated.  We hope you learned a lot and had fun while doing it!
