Panasonic GX1, G5 and GH3

The experts from Panasonic came to Foto Care recently to teach the staff about a few of their great cameras from the G series!

The first camera that I want to share with you is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1. My first impression of the GX1 is that this is a camera for a professional photographer that wants a great, small digital camera to carry around everyday or on vacation. This little mirrorless camera definitely packs a punch with a 16-megapixel Live MOS Sensor, Micro Four Thirds System and high sensitivity (maximum of 12800 ISO). A fantastic feature that we like about the ISO range is the Intelligent ISO. Intelligent ISO allows the camera to identify the moving subject and adjust the ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to suppress motion blur in your image. Another great feature (that I hadn’t seen before) is the Touch Focus system. The Touch Focus system allows you to look at the LCD screen on the back of the camera and choose a point of focus by touching the screen to get the focus just right.

The next camera that we like is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5. This digital single lens mirrorless camera has a ton of great features, including a 16.05 MP Live MOS Sensor, Intelligent ISO, Touch Focus, and iA Plus Mode, but there are a lot of features that are new and exciting! The focusing system includes Contrast Autofocus and ultra high-speed Light Speed AF. You can also completely change the look of your image with Creative Control Modes that allow you to change color, contrast and focus. Dabbling in video? With the G5, you can record video using AVCHD, which has no time limit so you can record videos for as long as your battery lives or until your SDHC or SDXC Memory Card is full. Other features for the camera include a quieter electronic shutter and high-resolution viewfinder.

The last camera, which we are very excited about, is the Panasonic DMC-GH3. This mirrorless camera is meant to cater to professionals, especially those that shoot portraiture, still life, architecture and, especially, nature. Why is this camera perfect for photographing nature? The body is tough! Made of magnesium and weather sealed to be splash and dust proof, this camera is ready for anything. And, with Wi-Fi connectivity, moving your images on the go is incredibly easy. Video is one of this camera’s strong points with the ability to shoot Full HD, slow motion, quick motion and time lapses. The GH3 also embeds SMPTE Time Code either in Rec Run or Free Run count-up methods, which make it easy to sync the multiple video footage or sound source into postproduction workflow. Drop frame or Non Drop Frame TC is selectable. This camera can also shoot HDR and not just double but multi-exposures! The number of accessories that you can add to this camera is impressive as well! You can add a flash, battery grip or mic to the camera and there are 16 lenses and 3 converters available as well.

If you’re looking for a great camera to add to your collection, try a Panasonic and the experts at Foto Care are here to help you pick out what’s best for you!
